REMEMBERING SALLY RIDE

We are deeply saddened by a great American’s passing. As a founding Board member of Change the Equation, Sally Ride was a friend and close colleague of ours. While most remember her as the first American woman to fly in space, that remarkable accomplishment is just one blip on the radar screen compared to the millions of girls and thousands of teachers she has inspired through her tireless efforts to promote science education.

Sally showed students that science, technology, engineering and math are creative, collaborative, fascinating and fun. She ignited interest, enthusiasm and learning for millions of students, encouraging them to think about their future and pursue a wide range of exciting opportunities.

Sally often spoke passionately about her fond memories of growing up during the space race and the hopes and dreams she had for the future. Sally lived those dreams, and her legacy will be the millions she challenged to fulfill their own dreams.
