Program Impact

The mission of US Math Recovery Council® is to transform numeracy education by connecting research with practice to empower educators to advance student mathematical thinking and success through Math Recovery® principles.  Math Recovery® professional development programs are used across the United States and in several countries.  According to program evaluations, participants overwhelmingly find our courses to be highly applicable and among the best professional development they have experienced.  District administrators find Math Recovery® courses provide a common language for discussion within a school and district.

Program Overview

US Math Recovery Council® professional development courses increase teachers’ knowledge and understanding of how children think about and learn mathematics.

Each course equips teachers with assessment and instructional tools that give them the strategies and skills they need to promote the advancement of students’ mathematical thinking and learning in whole numbers and fractions.  As a result, student engagement and confidence in doing mathematics improves and students’ learning of elementary number concepts and skills increases.

We offer two professional development course types, Math Recovery® Intervention Specialist and Add+VantageMR®.  Each impact the work of district math leaders, classroom and support educators.  Math Recovery® Intervention Specialist course offers a strong coaching component and leadership courses to support district sustainability of Math Recovery® professional development programs.  Add+VantageMR® courses include three 4-day courses covering whole number arithmetic and fractions.

How To Get Involved

$12,000-$24,000 supports a school or district to host a course on-site.  Leadership courses provide in-district sustainability models allowing for full program implementation at a reduced rate.  Costs to develop a district leader are about $11,000 and includes a series of courses and coaching.
